International Workshop on Nonlinear and Modern Mathematical
Physics
July 15-21, 2009
Shihezi City, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, People's Republic of
China
Description of the
Conference:
The International Workshop on Nonlinear
and Modern Mathematical Physics is scheduled to be held in Shihezi
University, Shihezi, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, People's Republic of
China during July 15 through July 21, 2009. The workshop is generously sponsored
by Shihezi University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Xinjiang Production
and Construction Corps., the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the
University of South Florida and the China Association for Science and
Technology.
The primary goals of the workshop are to promote and encourage cooperation,
understanding and collaboration in the nonlinear mathematical physics community
and to bring together mathematicians and physicists that attempt to understand
nonlinear phenomena and solve nonlinear problems. The workshop aims to survey
recent advances on a wide range of topics of current interest in nonlinear and
modern mathematical physics including: integrable and near-integrable equations,
physical and engineering applications such as nonlinear optics, Bose-Einstein
condensates and fluid dynamics, and numerical aspects of nonlinear phenomena.
The workshop will provide a forum for scientists and researchers worldwide to
present their latest results and a means to discuss their recent research with
each other. Themes of this workshop include (but are not limited to):
- Continuous and discrete integrable equations
- Algebraic and geometric methods of integrable equations
- New type of solutions in integrable equations
- Variational theories and Hamiltonian structures
- Symmetries and separation of variables
- Hirota method and Painlevé analysis
- Bäcklund and Darboux transformations
- Solitary wave interactions and collisions
- Stability theory of solitary waves
