My basic research is in "visual cognition." Vision is both a miraculously quick entry to mind and a piercingly deep entry. Visual cognition is about this entry process, and includes scene identification and interpretation, reading, attention, and their time courses; topics I study. I also apply research to improve life human design challenges such as helping children learn to read, creating objects and environments that are useful for people, and exploring human potential. Our lab has great opportunities! My research is motivated by the need for humane design in many domains. Our existing cultural environment was designed for expedience and profit, as were our banking and investment systems. We can no longer afford design-for-greed! Design-for-greed is endangering the welfare of the most productive workforce ever. Redesign now for humans, so we can live and grow in a safe and healthy climate that is driven by humanity rather than greed! |
