Welcome to the
Interface and Surface Science Laboratory!
Surface science is
the study of solid-solid, solid-gas, or solid-liquid interfaces. Our group
mainly utilizes ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) surface science techniques to investigate
atomic-structures, electronic, and chemical properties of material’s interfaces.
Surface science has implications for such diverse fields as: Self assembled
monolayers, physical properties of nanostructures, microelectronic devices, and
heterogeneous catalysis. In many cases it provides the scientific foundation for
technological processes and devices.
