Naphthalene Oxidation in a Plug Flow Reactor

by Jordan Church

Submitted : Spring 2012

I was charged with the task of optimizing a plug flow reaction. Using the skills acquired through studies in calculus I took what I was given and differentiated, integrated and derived the necessary formulas needed for solving such equation for the reaction in the reactor. After toying with my virtual reactor I set up in Microsoft Excel, I found the proper value needed for a complete conversion of Naphthalene in the reactor, and made it so that all of the reactants were converted into products.
