Curve Analysis of Shod vs Barefoot Running

by Eric Capostagno

Submitted : Fall 2011

An investigation into the force exerted onto the body during barefoot and shod running using analysis of the total force during the gait cycle. It was found that when heel striking, as most shod runners do creates an impact transient that increases force over barefoot runner significantly. It is the impulse of the impact transient along with the total force exerted that may be the contributing factors to running related injuries.
