That's a Drag: The Effects of Drag Forces

by Shane Maxemow

Submitted : Fall 2009

This project is to define what a drag force is, derive an equation for drag force and give examples of that drag force. First was to define a drag force, after researching a conclusion was drawn that a simple definition of drag was: a force that opposes motion due to an objects shape, material, and speed. Next was to calculate an equation for drag force. This was achieved using the Buckingham pi theorem, a dimensional analysis tool. Lastly was to solve a problem that gives an example of where drag would take place.
