Natural Sciences >> ChemistryKinetics of Atmospheric NOx Reactionsby Amy Broadwater
Submitted : Fall 2012 The concentration of NO and NO2 created from the exhaust of vehicles were studied over time using a “box model”, in which the reactants are placed in a simulated box and allowed to react. Different conditions were studied with the perspective to decrease the concentration of NO before it reached populations of people. To find relative amounts of NO2, NO and O3, a 1st order Euler’s method was used. The results of the “box model” showed that the NO concentration was the lowest in conditions of high ozone and nighttime.
