Simulation of Model Rocket Flight with Estes B6 Engine

Submitted : Fall 2012

My project concerned graphing the velocity and height of a model rocket with an Estes B6 engine as a function of time. I was given a formula that described the rockets acceleration as a function of time; this formula had velocity as a variable inside (part of the drag force) and I only had numerical data on Thrust as a function of time. Thus making the function very difficult, if not impossible, to integrate; as suggested I used Euler’s method to get a numerical approximation of the velocity. With numerical values for the velocity I was able to use Euler’s method a second time to get numerical values for the height. With this numerical data, I was able to make a graph of the velocity and height as a function of time.
