Medicine >> NeurologyStatistical Significance in Spine Configurationby Niharika Yerrapragada
Submitted : Spring 2012 The human body is made up of trillions of cells. There are many factors that can destruct the body. One of those factors is ageing. Ageing is the cause of many life threatening diseases and ells play an ambiguous role in ageing. Dr. Darren J. Baker conducted a study with mice to see the connection between age and senescent cells, which arrest growth. The brains of the mice were used by the Neuostructural Research Laboratories, Inc. to observe changes in the parietal cortex region. Dendritic spine count method was used in order to see significant differences in the mice. This project was conducted in order to find significance in frequencies of the three discrete random variables (Thin, Mushroom, and Stubby), and to compare expected values. The frequencies showed no significance. Stubby spines have the highest expected value and Mushroom spines have the lowest expected value.
