Engineering >> Mechanical EngineeringFinding the Acceleration of the 2009 Nissan Skyline GTR Using Calculusby Ivan Williams
Submitted : Spring 2011 For my project I found an equation to find the acceleration of the 2009 Nissan Skyline GTR from 0-60 mph, 0-100 mph, and 0-196 mph. To find the acceleration I first rearranged the equation for force and then integrated it to produce an equation that will give me the force inverse, which I can use to find the force produced by the car in each gear. I then used a different equation to find the speed of the car at different RPM’s in each gear. After I found this I plotted a graph force inverse over velocity and then found the area of the region under the graph using Riemann sums, which is the time elapsed. My conclusions for this project are that given enough information on a vehicle that you can find the acceleration, not only from zero to any velocity but from any velocity to another velocity, given that the second velocity is higher than the first.
