Engineering >> Civil & Environmental EngineeringShear Force and Bending Moment in a Beamby Philip Chorath
Submitted : Fall 2010 In this problem, the shear force and bending moment functions for a beam are determined. Next, the position when bending moment will be at its maximum point in the beam was determined. Finally, the data was plotted on a graph. This was completed by adding all the moments around a together and then setting them equal to zero. The same method was done with the force in the y direction. The results acquired then were used with the correlation, with the condition that V(0) = FA. This led to two separate equations; one that was valid in all instants greater than a and one that was valid in all instants less than a. These two equations were used with the correlation with the condition that M(0) = 0.The data was plotted a graph on Microsoft Excel. The plotting revealed a downward sloping arc on both graphs.
