Engineering >> Computer Science & EngineeringUsing Calculus to Describe Projectile Behavior in Video Game Designby Christopher Scannapieco
Submitted : Fall 2010
This report discusses a method by which calculus can be used to create complex behavior for a smart projectile in a video game or simulation. This is done by first defining the projectile curve as a programmable function with multiple inputs which are determined at run-time. Tolerance and aggressiveness for determining the ability to evade the projectile are then associated with the projectile's acceleration and the volume of space between the projectile and the target.
