Engineering >> OtherDetermining the Radius and Mass of Celestial Bodies from Satellitesby Patrick Duffany
Submitted : Spring 2020
Interstellar exploration is a leading field in science due to the scientific advancements that the discovery of different elements or planets could bring. The most prominent method of discovering celestial bodies in the solar system is through satellites. As satellites become more advanced, they will eventually move to discover exoplanets, which are planets that are outside of our solar system. The purpose of this project is to be able to determine the mass and radius of celestial bodies using derivations of Kepler’s Laws of Planetary motion and Newton’s Laws of Motion from a satellite within its orbit.
