Natural Sciences >> OtherLongleaf Pine Tree Populations in Florida State Parksby Sara Stanley
Submitted : Fall 2017 The Florida Forest Service plants Longleaf pine trees every year to keep the population growing healthy and strong. They plant two categories of pine trees: containerized and barefoot. The amount of trees they plant each year depends on the health and number of the current population. A table was obtained from the Florida Forest Service containing the exact number of longleaf pines planted during the last ten years. A scatter plot was created from the data in the table. From the scatter plot, a trendline was created and the slope was calculated. To calculate the average population of planted longleaf pines in 2007 through 2017, the average of a function (f) on the interval [1,10] was taken.
