Engineering >> EngineeringOptimal Pipe Diameter for Pumping a Viscous Fluidby Jason Sikorski
Submitted : Fall 2009 This project was an application of calculus to help find an answer to a problem involving fluid mechanics. It used various skills of calculus combined with some basic knowledge of physics and fluid mechanics to solve a problem that an engineer may encounter on a normal basis in a firm. In the end the goal of the project was to take a pipe with a given length and calculate the optimal diameter to suffice both a low pipe cost and a high rate of flow.
