Overfishing of Atlantic Cod

by Ashley Allan

Submitted : Fall 2016

The goal of this project is to determine the number of years it would take for a population of Atlantic cod to repopulate to large enough numbers to not be endangered and to also provide maximum numbers for fisheries. To do this requires predicting the population growth through the logistic growth model, given the initial population and carrying capacity are based off of the annual amount of fish caught in the lowest and highest years. Using the logistic equation, it is found that it would take about 7.65 years for the Atlantic cod population to repopulate without any disturbance from fisheries.
