Electronic Waste Generation from 2000 to 2012

Waste management is one of the biggest issues that many countries, the United States included, experience. Solutions are needed in order to reduce the amount of waste that go into landfills. Electronic device wastes are one of the most hazardous wastes because of their components. Based on the dangers that these wastes can have on people’s health as well as the environment, researches were conducted in order to determine the level of electronic waste production over time. With the growth of industries and population, this research will give a highlighted number about the number of recorded electronic devices that have been reported in landfills or that have been recycled.

The results of the data show a significant increase in the number of electronic waste generated between 2000 and 2012. Even though the number of waste recycled is increasing over time, it is also observed that the number of the waste generated increase as well. As a result, the number of waste generated is directly proportional to the number of waste recycle during those 12 years of research. That means that the number of waste recycled increases as the number of waste generated increases. However, the number of electronic waste recycled is still minim compared to the one of the number of electronic waste generated.
