Rayleigh Distillation

This report examines the mathematical processes of distillation. Using a hexane-octane distillation as an example, I used Microsoft Excel to determine the highest amount of distillate that can be produced while keeping the distillate’s mole fraction above 0.7. The highest amount was determined to be 29 moles.
