Predicting Hypereutrophication in Lakes

by Mary Stephan

Submitted : Fall 2013

This project serves to predict the hypereutrophication of lakes using Fick's Law. Hypereutrophication is when there are too many nutrients in a lake and it leads to algal blooms. This in turn leads to interference with photosynthesis and destruction of the plant and animal life if the lake. If we are able to predict the algal blooms in lakes, we can then use that information to predict how those blooms will affect the lake as a whole and begin to treat the lake preemptively.
