Natural Sciences >> Integrative BiologyPopulation Dynamics of Toadsby Paul Plourde
Submitted : Fall 2013 The aim of this project is to determine if the common reed is causing a population of Fowler toads to decline in numbers based on applying calculus and statistics to mark and recapture data. Population abundances for each year were calculated, a rough 95% confidence interval for the time interval before and after the common reed was commonplace, and intrinsic growth rates for each year. Overall, there is evidence to suggest that the common reed is negatively affecting the Fowler toad population; even with trends of fluctuation throughout the sample years being similar.
