Natural Sciences >> OtherStudy of Dieldrin in Coralville Reservoirby Jeremy Smith
Submitted : Spring 2012 Using experimental concentrations of dieldrin levels in the environment and fatty tissue of the fish, taken over a period of roughly 12 years, a model of the decline of total dieldrin concentration can be approximated. Comparisons between the experimental data and speculative data can be made using calculus and elements of statistics allowing the movement of dieldrin through the Coralville Reservoir ecosystem to be tracked and, therefore, better understood. Because of the potentially harmful effects of dieldrin on exposed humans and environments, it is important to be able to predict when a stability has be restored to the ecosystem so as to prevent any unnecessary casualties.
