Submitted : Fall 2011 In this project I used recent state and local level data in order to illustrate the positive correlation between students’ test performance as whole on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test and non-school factors, such as demographics about a particular area. By analyzing the performance of public schools through the use of Mathematics and Statistics as well as through sociology and geography, one may utilize Calculus applications to show some type of distribution; theoretically a normal distribution that successfully shows how quantitative and qualitative factors indirectly relate to one another. These results imply that demographic disparities within local communities clearly show a positive relationship with students’ test performance and how schools are represented by the student population.
