Styrene Emission Environmental Compliance

by Andre Nozari

Submitted : Fall 2010

Find a solution to the high styrene fumes concentrations from a refrigerator door manufacturing plant causing health issues for the workers in the surrounding office buildings.  Because the concentrations of the fumes are high enough to cause health problems, the Environmental Protection Commission (EPC) is performing the simulations and calculations to find the stack height and fan speed changes required to lower the fume concentrations to a point where they do not cause harm to the people in the surrounding buildings.  Due to the sensitive nature of potential health issues caused by this manufacturing plant prior to compliance with EPC, I was unable to obtain permission from them to take photographs identifying their facility.
