This Paper demonstrates the usefulness of calculus in mechanical systems and fluid dynamics. Calculus in mechanical systems and fluid dynamics can allow you to calculate the work required to pump various fluids from tanks of different sizes and fluids of different densities. The focus of this paper will be to apply calculus in finding the work required for pumping out fluids with varying liquids in septic tanks. The varying depths of these liquids will along with their varying densities will require applied to calculus to find the appropriate pumps for companies to buy when looking to clear out tanks to prevent septic overflow. As the septic sludge that can build up at the bottom of theses cylindrical tanks are not permitted to take up any more than 30% of the tanks total volume.
