Engineering >> Civil & Environmental EngineeringCalculating Volume of Algae Pool Structures and Optimization of the Propertyby Derrick Kalberer
Submitted : Fall 2020 The city of Tampa is sponsoring a biofuel project that will consist of multiple pool structures used for the growth of algae for scientific study. Each pool is to consist of a different structure form in order to upset water flow in order to define which pool and water flow pattern will produce the heaviest abundance of algae for the purpose of research. The City of Tampa Waste-Water Management Department will be spear-heading the project and has inquired about the volume of each individual structure and the volume of the structures combined. The volume is calculated using the disk method. Along with the utilization of fencing that will enclose all pool structures, pump houses, drainage, and other pipework which is calculated using Calculus Optimization. The volume varied widely with every different curve of the pool structures.
