Submitted : Spring 2010 To begin, the probability of a particle being reflected by a semi-infinite energy barrier is solved by using Schrodinger?s equations that describe the quantum mechanical behavior of the particle. In order to do so, advantage is taken of the functions being continuous at x = 0. The continuity of the functions, at x = 0, allows the original wave functions and their first derivatives to be set equal to each other which leads to a system of equations that are solved for A1 and B1.
