Natural Sciences >> Integrative BiologyThe Allee Effect on the Population of Florida Panthersby Kaleesia Neverson
Submitted : Spring 2019
This project will demonstrate the minimum population required to keep Florida panthers from going extinct in the wild through the use of a differential equation and the Allee effect. Because of the low genetic diversity the Florida population underwent, the population decreased to near extinction levels before new panthers were introduced and helped increase genetic diversity. The critical value for the extinction of panthers was almost reached, but the new panthers helped improve the population and by determining the critical value, panthers can be assisted when they come close to it to prevent extinction.
