Submitted : Spring 2009 Calculating the center of mass or centroid of a shape has always been essential in science and particularly engineering. We can very easily locate this coordinate in regularly shaped figures such as circles and squares; however, by applying certain principles of calculus we may now evaluate this same coordinate for irregularly shaped objects. In the following, I have set out to find the coordinates of the centroid for several different shapes. This was achieved through the utilization of the Excel spreadsheet program.
