Medicine >> OtherCalculating Cardiac Output by Use of the Dye Dilution Methodby Jack Colvard
Submitted : Spring 2017 Through my subject advisor, I was given a set of data pertaining to a patient of average fitness and good health. I was instructed to calculate their cardiac output using the most accurate method of calculation – which was found to be Simpson’s rule. A brief yet comprehensive explanation of the anatomy and physiology of the heart is given to give substance to this application. Also, an explanation of why cardiac output measurements by dye dilution are important diagnostic tools in the medical setting is given. An explanation and comparison of why Simpson’s rule proves most accurate is provided as well. In conclusion of this project, it was determined how and why Simpson’s rule proves most accurate over mid-point rule or trapezoid rule.
