Airline Efficiency Dilemma

In the airline industry, prices are dictated by the ever fluctuating oil prices. So as oil prices climb, ticket prices will follow. This has always been the case but was most recently highlighted during the 2008 financial crisis. Airliners were forced to cut down cost in order to make up for the rising overhead costs. The purpose of this research is to shed some light on the efficiency of the planes we fly in today. As technology improves, the efficiencies of the planes we travel in should as well. Comparing aircrafts from 1988 – 2005, we see that gas consumption and the number of passenger improves. This shows that aircraft makers are continuously trying to improve amount on the capacity of the place and its fuel efficiency.
