Dish Receiver Design

The goal of this project is to determine the best placement for a feed horn in a parabolic satellite dish, find the tangent plane to a point on the dish’s surface, and to determine the effects of changing the diameter of a satellite dish. We found that the best placement for the feed horn is the focal point, due to the reflective property of parabolas, and that increasing the dish’s diameter increases the gain while decreasing the efficiency and vice versa.
