Engineering >> Chemical & Biomedical EngineeringControlled Release of a Drugby Zoe Leonarczyk
Submitted : Spring 2013 It is common for pharmaceutical drugs to be released throughout the body in an extended period of time. This is made possible through a thin membrane surrounding the drug that is permeable both towards the drug and water. As long as there is still a part of undissolved solid drug within the membrane, the drug will dissolve at a constant rate period. The objective of this project is to determine the amount of time that a drug will be in the constant rate period, given the initial mass of the drug in each particle. This is done by using a calculus based process to mathematically determine the length of time.
