Vehicle Alignment Recommendation for Mercedes Benz Vehicles Model Year 2017

by Ryan Maldonado

Submitted : Fall 2017

Vehicle alignment measurements are taken normally at each service visit a vehicle makes to their certified Mercedes Benz dealership using a calibrated vehicle alignment quick check machine. Two hundred samples, 50 of each four current vehicle classes for model year 2017, were taken from a high traffic Mercedes Benz dealership alignment machine to be evaluated for this study. These two hundred samples were filtered from three thousand original samples by choosing only vehicles that had less than twenty thousand miles, have currently failed the alignment check, and have not previously received an alignment adjustment. The selected measurements were converted to an excel document that was then organized by mileage and displayed in a 3D graph which was mathematically evaluated. This showed across all four classes a failure rate occurring frequently between fifteen and twenty thousand miles at two specific alignment angles.
