Horsepower of an Diesel Engine

by Darrell Griffin

Submitted : Fall 2014

A piston uses pressure and air to ignite and combust fuel. This reaction is used to harness the Kinetic energy that is used to power the machine or vehicle. Given the pressure and angle of the crankshaft, the task was to find the power in horsepower (HP) of a two stroke diesel engine. Based on the calculations the engine was found to have approximately 32,168HP.
