Submitted : Fall 2012 For a section of cable that is strung between two poles, there is a tension (T0) at the origin, which is placed at the position in which the cable has its lowest elevation. In addition, there is a tension (T) at the end of the cable section, at the highest point of the cable. There is also a sag (h), as shown in figure 1 (See Appendix), which is the vertical distance between the point where it is attached to a pole and its lowest point between the poles. I found these aforementioned variables through the utilization of Newtonian principles, substitution, and integration.
