Engineering >> Computer Science & EngineeringRobotics: Robotic Boatby Matthew Barthe
Submitted : Spring 2012 This project focuses on the problems that arise within robotics in respect to Calculus, specifically the problems associated with robotic boats and their movement with two separate engines. Using the information I was provided with I needed to solve each of the five proposed questions and determine the best way to go about each unique solution. Within this problem I solved for differing levels of difficulty for movement of the robotic boat, ranging from movement from point to point with no sort of resistance or outside forces, to computing an arc of movement for the boat considering both air and water forces. I plotted the path of the robotic boat if no outside forces acted upon it and then, based upon the forces exerted, I rewrote the previous equations in order to compensate for said external forces. This way I provide a model for how to rewrite equations of motion to compensate for varying levels of wind speed and currents.
