Natural Sciences >> ExternalSurfacing Sharksby Kimberly Farber
Submitted : Spring 2010 This project consists of examining data transmitted by satellite tags attached to seven different sharks. The data is analyzed and trends in temperatures at times of surfacing instances are tracked. Additionally, the hour of the day during which each transmission is sent is extrapolated from the full date and time, and trends regarding the times at which the sharks tend to surface are examined. It is clear that there is definitely a temperature range at which sharks feel comfortable surfacing and that the sharks are also more likely to surface at times of day close to sunrise and sunset.
