Engineering >> EngineeringAnalysis of a Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR)by Drew Neihart
Submitted : Spring 2010 This project consists of the analysis or a CSTR, or Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor. There are two parts to the problem; the first finding the volume required to convert 90% of the chemicals to their products. This is done by analyzing the equations given for the rate of change of the concentrations of the reactants. Solving the problem results in a 100L reactor being necessary for 90% product conversion. The second problem consists of determining hot long the CSTR takes to reach a steady state, in which the concentrations of the reactants stay the same over time.
