Medicine >> OtherUsing the Surge Function in Medicineby Michael Olajide
Submitted : Fall 2020 Overdose refers to an excessive intake of a drug. This may result in harmful consequences such as death. Therefore, medical experts had to develop a way in which they could find the right dosage a patient should take in order for the drug to be the most effective and avoid overdosing. In this project, the surge function is a model that helps medical experts determine the right prescription for patients. In this project, the drug concentration in a patient’s blood over time was provided and the surge function was used to find the perfect prescription for this drug. The results showed that it was safe to take another drug after 8 hours, this means that the most effective prescription would be taking the drug 2-3 times a day. Taking it more than 3 times may put the patient at risk of an overdose.
