Engineering >> Mechanical EngineeringCalculating the Time Taken by the 2011 Bugatti Veyron Acceleration to Reach from 0 to 60 MPHby Joao Luccas Ribeiro Nascimento
Submitted : Spring 2019 Improving acceleration performance has always been the goal for engineers these days. Calculating the time spent by the car to reach a certain speed can be used by these engineers to find out where they can improve to get better results. Using the Newton’s second law as base, in this paper, the time performance of the Bugatti Veyron is calculated by knowing and applying into the formula the force, velocity and force inverse. Before that, its necessary to find out the value of these three components of the Newton’s formula by using the car information of torque, tire radius, rpm, weight, differential ratio and gear ratio. After finding the values by using Newton’s formula, the time performance will be the area under the graphs that cannot be determined in one simple formula, so it is necessary to calculate through the Riemann sum. Then, after all these steps, the value of the Riemann sum should be the time that the car takes to reach the velocity stipulated.
