Natural Sciences >> OtherPredicting the Loggerhead Sea Turtle Population in Ten Yearsby Sarah Neglia
Submitted : Spring 2019
The Loggerhead sea turtle is currently listed as a threatened species by the U.S Fish and Wildlife services. A threatened species means that it needs to be protected before the number of species gets even lower, causing it to be endangered and potentially go extinct. This project is meant to bring awareness to the Loggerhead Sea Turtle by predicting what the Loggerhead Turtle population would be in ten years. To do this, a survival and renewal function was used to predict the population. The results from the project show the prediction of the total number of Loggerhead Sea Turtles there would be in the ocean in ten years. It is important to note that the current total population and the reproduction rate of the Loggerhead Sea Turtle are based on averages.
