Comparing Animal Weight to Sedative Amount

The objective of this paper is to take in account the weight of a certain kind of animal and how much of a certain type of tranquilizer it takes to properly sedate it. Furthermore, it is to see if there is any method that can be taken to ensure if there is a safe and efficient way to administer to sedative without the risk of going over or under. Using this data, an exponential curve was found which gave an exponential function. This showed the direct proportion between to the weight of the animal and the dosage of the sedative. From this it was determined whether the sedative usage can be better monitored based on different factors such as diet, or urgency of situation. For this problem the weights of the five Grevy’s zebra at Busch Gardens Tampa bay were used to study as well as the Fentanyl transdermal drug, a common Opioid tranquilizer used in zoos to relax larger herbivores and carnivores before surgery.
