Applying Calculus to Calculate Probability of a Paint Hiding in One Coat

The hiding power of paints and coatings can be expressed as a contrast ratio. In this project nationally sold satin white paints with a contrast ratio of greater than .980 were counted and plotted with their price per gallon in $5.00 increments. This data was then used to develop a Probability Density Function from which it can be integrated over a specified price range to derive the probability that a paint can be found in that range with a contrast ratio greater than .980.
