Natural Sciences >> PhysicsDiving Dilemmaby Joshua Cureton
Submitted : Spring 2014 The purpose of this project was to mathematize and solve how deep into a pool an individual would go if they were to dive from a given height. The variables we used to calculate the depth included: the diving height (d), the initial velocity of the diver (V0), the divers’ gradual rate of deceleration (a) and the amount of time it took for the velocity (V) to decelerate to zero (t). Upon completion of this assignment, it was calculated that the diver would sink to a depth roughly equal to his original diving height.
