Natural Sciences >> MicrobiologyNecessity of an Immune System via Viral Replication Modelby Danny Rivera
Submitted : Spring 2013 In this project, the exponential growth rate of a Virus and the total number of cells in a human was calculated separately using the formula Nt=N0* Pt (Abedon). The immune response of the human host was neglected in the calculations in order to simply show the rate of viral replication without anything to deter it. We started with one virus which yields 100 viruses per replication. The starting number of human cells is 100,000,000,000,000. The virus replicates every 6 hours while the human cells were set at every 24 hours. Subtracting the number of viruses produced every 6 hours from the number of cells that replicated every 24 hours, the human cells lasted around 42-48 hours before being completely annihilated by the viruses.
