Examinations
There will be four mid-term
examinations and one final examination. Three of your four mid-term exams will
be counted; the one with the lowest score will be dropped. All examinations are
close-book and close-notebook. Calculators are allowed as long as they do not
have the feature of symbolic differentiation and integration. Cell phones
should be turned off during all examinations. Dates and coverage of the
examinations are as follows:

Homework
A few problems from each
section will be collected for grading. These problems and their due dates are
assigned in class at the beginning of each section. Homework is collected once
a week, usually on Monday. Your home work will be graded by a grader.
Grading
The examinations will be
graded by the instructor. Each examination is graded on a grading scale. The
grading scale will be determined and made available to you after each
examination. Your course grade is based on the following weights:
Mid-terms: 20% each
Final: 30%
Homework: 10%
Other Policies
Since one of your four
mid-term exams will be dropped, there are no make-up midterm exams unless the
situation is truly exceptional. No late
homework will be graded unless you have an acceptable reason either discussed
with me in advance or supported by suitable documents. There is no attendance
policy.
