This site does not list every detail. Refer to the Catalog for complete details. The purpose of this site is to help you get a rough idea on requirements and to present a list easy to look up and check.

Exam Option

• At least $30$ hours of math graduate courses. Specifically,

  (A) The Mathematics graduate courses of 5000 level or higher, offered regularly for mathematics majors from our department, are counted towards the 30 hours requirement.

  (B) Up to 6 hours of 4000 level or higher courses, taken from our department or other departments at USF, may be counted towards the 30 hours requirement with approval by the Graduate Program Director and the Department Chairman.

• Taking two sequences from among Core and Elective Sequences with at least ``B'' average for each sequence.

• Passing one Core Qualifying Exams at master's level.

Thesis Option

• At least $30$ hours of math graduate courses (see above for details).

• Taking one sequence from Core Sequences with at least ``B'' average. Taking another (Core or Elective) sequence with at least ``B'' average.

• At least $6$ hours in MAT 6971, Master's Thesis, only $6$ hours of which are counted in the $30$ hours requirement.

• Final Oral Examination.

• Final Submission of Thesis.
