Graduate students:
The following info were provided by our system administrator, Joel Woodman (woodman@chuma1.cas.usf.edu). I like to thank him for his help, and please ask him if you have any questions. I have an impression that Prof. Natasha Jonoska and Prof. Edwin Clark can help you on PC's and Mac's, respectively.
From Joel: While Arts and Sciences Computing doesn't officially support MacOS X yet, those using it at home can use TeTeX and TeXShop for creating TeX files and PDFs derived from them. Both applications are free and relatively easy to install. As noted below, Mac users with OS 8 or 9 can use TeXtures. It's reasonably affordable for academic customers. Windows users can follow the link to www.tug.org that Natasha provided. TeX (LaTeX and AMSTeX) is also available on tarski, chuma and luna, for all users with accounts on the respective systems.
From Edwin: "TeX Live 4 comes on a CD-ROM, containing ready-to-run TeX systems for most types of Unix and Windows (This is distributed free to members or so by TUG (TeX Users Group). Cost of Membership $35 for students.) The URL is http://www.tug.org/ " For the few that have a Mac, Textures is available and very easy to use. Go to http://www.bluesky.com/products/products_frames.html for information on Textures.
From Natasha: "I use Tex-Live at home and am a TUG member. It is really easy to install, if WinEdt is installed in the instalation process then it is great for using either Latex or (ams)Tex. Also it has an automatic converter into postscript files and into html files."
From Joel: All accounts on tarski, chuma and luna support personal webpages. Files can be placed in the account's public_html directory, and will be available under the http://servername.cas.usf.edu/~username. Or, in the case of tarski, http://tarski.math.usf.edu/~username.
From me (Masahico): Please ask Denise (denise@chuma1.cas.usf.edu) to make a link from Department's list of ``People'' to your home page when you make your own home page.
