RESEARCH INTERESTS
Multisensory integration in the behaviors of fishes, particularly elasmobranch feeding behaviors.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
2006 - Present:
Functional Morphology Lab, USF / Center for Shark Research, Mote Marine Laboratory - Investigating multisensory (olfaction, mechanoreception, vision, electroreception) integration in shark and teleost feeding behaviors through behavioral assays, selective sensory lesioning, high-speed videography of feeding kinematics, SEM and MRI of sensory structures, and neurophysiology

2004 - 2006: Research Assistant, Boston University Marine Program, Woods Hole, MA - Investigated the contribution of olfaction, mechanoreception by the lateral line, and vision to turbulent odor plume tracking and localization behavriors in sharks through selective lesioning of sensory systems, behavioral assays, and neurorecordings

2000 - 200 1: Honors Student, McGill University, Montreal, QC - Investigated the effectiveness of the various strains of Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccines, used to provide immunity against tuberculosis, by comparing their survival in a human macrophage cell line

1997 - 1999: Research Assistant, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Fredericton, NB - Assisted with field and laboratory research on insect behavior and ecology, Integrated Pest Management, and viral transmission by insect vectors
