MICHAEL (a multi-lingual online catalog) Project Description:http://www.michael-culture.org/project.html :
Launched by the Museums, Libraries, and Archives Council (MLA), MICHAEL aims to provide quick and simple access to the digital collections of museums, libraries, and archives located in European countries. The service will also support cultural tourism, creative industries, and other related interests. Work on MICHAEL began in 2004 to create an open source database for recording digital collections that can be accessed through websites in different languages. By 2007, the MICHAEL portal should be available in at least 12 European languages.

Resources for Libraries in Communities

A-Librarian-at-Every-Table Website and Mailing List.
Librarians have an important role to play in building community in neighborhoods, towns, cities, counties, states and the nation. People have great faith in libraries as fair and trusted institutions and in librarians as the honest and diligent keepers and disseminators of the human record. There are many demands on librarians today to integrate new technologies in service of a digital future. Sometimes we feel that these demands pull us from the traditional values that inform our daily work. This website is a resource to demonstrate the value of librarianship in the community building movement.
